5 Days Gorillas, Golden Monkey and Cultural Tour of Rwanda.
This 5 Days Rwanda Gorilla trekking Safari ,Golden Monkeys and Cultural Tour gives you an Opportunity to explore Rwanda’s Primates in the Volcanoes National Park, a Visit to the Twin Lakes, Musanze Caves, Karisoke Research Centre, Dian fossey’s Tomb. This Tour gives you an opportunity to enjoy the authentic heritage and Cultural of the Musanze area. The Tour also allows you to enjoy the countryside of Rwanda’s beautiful views and its landscape hence the reference; Rwanda the land of a thousand hills.
DAY 1: Arrival to Kigali and transfer to Musanze and an Afternoon visit to Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund and Research Center and Community Tour.
On arrival at Kigali Airport, You will be met by our Company Representative together with the driver Guide and depending on your time of arrival, we depart by road and transfer directly to Musanze town former Ruhengeri, which is found in the Northern Province of Rwanda. On Arrival we transfer to your Hotel for Check in and Lunch. This afternoon we take a visit to Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund / the Karisoke Research Centre, which is right in the center of Musanze Town, this high quality Research Centre was founded by Dian Fossey in September 24, 1967. It features an exhibit that Comprises of interpretive Panels about Mountain Gorillas and the Conservation efforts that Dian Fossey pioneered, Artefacts, a 3 D interactive model of Virunga Mountains and Casts real Gorilla nose Prints making a Perfect introduction to a Visit to the Gorillas.
Later in the Afternoon take a Cultural walk tour of the Nkotsi (Muko) Village to experience the life of people in Rural Rwanda as they go on with their daily chores, interact with them. You could also choose different experiences and Cultural activities such as Basket weaving / Bee keeping / Drumming Lessons / Traditional Medicine. Banana beer brewing. In the evening we drive to our Lodge for dinner and Overnight at

DAY 2: Visit to the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo and Afternoon Visit of Musanze Caves
After your Breakfast, We drive to have a Visit to the Twin Lakes; These 2 Lakes, L. Burera and Ruhono are close to each other and are often referred to as the twin Lakes of Rwanda. They are located at the foot of the Virunga Volcanoes, while at the twin Lakes you can enjoy a Village walk / Canoeing or a boat ride to Other Islands for Photography and bird watching with common water bird species being seen.
In the Afternoon Proceed to the Musanze Caves, these Caves are over 1 million years Old. They are about 2km drive from the Musanze along the road to Gisenyi. The Caves were created when different Lava flows joined to create the Albertine Rift Valley. Bats are a significant feature of these caves, as well as huge roof collapses that form vast arrays of colored light shafts. This activity can take about 3 Hours, You will be provided with a Torch, Helmet and Gloves while on this Cave Tour. Later return to the Lodge / Hotel for Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 3: Gorilla tracking and Dian Fossey’s Tomb Hike
Rise up early in the morning for a hearty breakfast, pack your tracking gears and head to the Volcanos National Park. ORTPN for briefing. And begin your trek in search for the Mountain Gorillas, enjoy your Gorilla tracking Experience. Later return for Lunch and in the afternoon return to the briefing point for a Guide who will brief you about the safety precautions to be followed during the Hike to Dian Fossey’s tomb. The ranger guide will give you a History about Dian Fossey and the great works she did in the Protection of the Gorillas in Rwanda. You will later reach the tomb and also get to see the grave of one Dian Fossey’s Gorilla Friend that died from Poaching. Later return hike back to the Park briefing point where you will meet your guide to transfer back to the Lodge for dinner and Overnight at the Lodge as above.

DAY 4: Golden Monkey tracking and afternoon Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village Visit.
After Breakfast, drive to the park offices for a briefing after enter into the park taking the golden monkey tracking trail and on this experience other primates, birds, butterflies will be spotted. Golden monkeys are interesting primates that reside in the Virunga regions of Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo. The golden monkeys are generally more active than the gorillas therefore making it an active tour. This requires that for great photos you will continuously follow them as they forage for food especially the delicious bamboo shoots. Sometimes they are seen getting into the surrounding gardens for potatoes. However to note is that they are generally not located too far so the trek to their habitat is much more manageable than some of the gorilla families.
In the Afternoon after your lunch visit the Iby’Iwacu cultural village / gorilla guardians’ village to learn more about the Rwandan culture and the people who co-existed with the gorillas for centuries. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight as above.

Day 5: Leisurely Breakfast and Transfer from Volcanoes National Park to Kigali for a city tour and Hotel Transfer.
After your Morning breakfast, we check out of the Lodge and proceed to Kigali City ‘the land of a thousand hills’ for a tour of the city to include Kigali Genocide Memorial, Craft markets in Kigali and the National Museum. Enjoy lunch in Kigali town and later we transfer you to your Hotel in Kigali Town or Airport for you Flight Home.
