This 3 Days Kidepo Valley National Park Wildlife Safari Tour takes you to the Least Visited but most spectacular and Beautiful National Park in Uganda. It is located in Kaabong District, in the North Eastern Corner of Uganda between Borders with South Sudan and Kenya. It is approximately 700Km by Road Northeast of Kampala.
Kidepo Valley National Park is one of Uganda’s most spectacular, beautiful, remotest and least visited National park but it is where all the big five can be viewed apart from the Rhinos that were Extinct, expect to view many bird species including Ostriches, Karamoja Apalis, Jackson’s hornbill, Purple grenadier, Pygmy falcon, Red-throated bee-eater, Rufous chatterer, White-bellied go-away bird, White-eyed kestrel, Golden pipit, Fox kestrel, D’Arnaud’s barbet, Chestnut weaver, Carmine bee-eater, Black-breasted Barbet, Abyssinian scimitar bill, Abyssinian roller and totals up to 1442km2 of gazetted grassland
The park receives only one rainy season per year (April-September) and the rain in this season is usually light. There are two rivers in the park and both rivers are seasonal, and usually disappear in the dry season. During the dry season, water can only be found in rare wetlands and muddy pools along the Narus valley near Apoka and that’s the reason why wildlife is centred in this area. And this makes Apoka the park’s prime game viewing location in Kidepo National Park.
Kidepo Valley National Park can be accessed by road or flying using the local airlines operating within the country. Travelling by road to Kidepo usually takes up to 13 hours of driving and requires constant stopovers to stretch your muscles but it’s really worth it, while the flight from Entebbe airport to Kidepo only takes Two hours.
DAY 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kidepo Valley National Park
Our Safari Guide will pick you up from your Hotel at around 6:00 am and we head North-East by road to Kidepo Valley National Park. Enjoy your Lunch Enroute and proceed to Kidepo Valley National Park, Later we arrive at the Lodge as you enjoy the panoramic views of the Narus River Valley and photographic opportunities of wildlife. An evening game drive along the Narus River Valley for game Viewing and photography of Elephants, herds of Buffaloes, Jackals, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Klipspringer and possibly Lions. DAY 2: Game viewing Safari – Cultural Experience
After an early breakfast, go for a morning game drive to Kanangorok hot springs. A variety of animals can be seen roaming around including Ostrich. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon have a cultural experience that will bring you in contact with Karamojong people at Karenna and Kapedo homesteads. Meet the local elders and have an opportunity to interact with them. They will show you the kraals, the grinding stones and many more interesting items. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.

DAY 3: Guided Nature Walk – Return Trip to Kampala

Transport: Our Safaris involve a lot of travelling on main Tarmac and Dirt Roads thus transport is provided in closed 4X4 Wheel drive Toyota Land Cruisers for all luxury Tours and the standard 4×4 Wheel drive Safari minivans for all Midrange – Budget Safaris. All Vehicles are provided with pop-top roofs for easy and excellent safari viewing. All passengers will have a dedicated window seat. Your professional English-speaking and courteous driver/guide will be at your disposal for questions or translations.

NB: It is not a Guarantee to see all the Various Animals in the Parks, especially Cats but there is a great chance that you might see them during an Evening or Early Morning Game drive because it is less hot around that time and therefore the animals are freely roaming around as opposed to typical afternoon hours when it gets too hot for the animals and they go undertaking cover from the sun.
