This 12 days Tracking Gorillas and Chimpanzees tour will introduce you to Uganda’s top National parks, where you will discover the forests and Savannah experience in the different national parks like Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable Gorilla Park, Lake Bunyonyi Island,  Lake Mburo National Parks. Accompanied by several activities like Chimpanzee tracking, Game drives, Gorilla trekking, Bird watching, Boat cruises, Cultural Tours, Island Tour, City Tour. This Tour starts and ends in Uganda.

12 DAYS TRACKING GORILLAS & CHIMPANZEE TOUR – DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to the Hotel in Kampala / Entebbe

After arrival at the Airport, our driver guide from Muafrika adventures will pick you up and transfer you to the Hotel for check-in. Later depart for your Kampala city Tour, which can either be a walking Tour of Kampala or by Car. Later transfer back to the Hotel for your Overnight.

Day 2: Transfer from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park

Set off from your pre-booked hotel in Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park, a 3840 sq. km park and home to one of the world’s most powerful waterfalls –Murchison Falls. The park extends across the 4 districts; Nwoya, Masindi, Kiryandongo and Buliisa, offering refuge to more than 451 species of birds, and more than 76 mammal species.

En-route to Murchison Falls NP, you will branch off to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track rhinos. Expect to explore rhinoceros at Ziwa Sanctuary on Foot. Multiple of other mammals survive within this sanctuary, including bushbucks, waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, bush pigs, duikers, bohor reedbucks, and many birds. After a remarkable trek with Ziwa rhinos, proceed to Masindi for lunch and later, proceed to Murchison Falls National Park with a trip to the top of the waterfalls. There is nothing as amazing as watching the River Nile making its way in an 8-meter crevice and dropping nearly 45 meters below as it continues with its course.

Due to the great power of the falls, you will realize that the ground here is actually shaking; this is very impressive, as a rainbow is also found. Later, check into the lodge in Murchison Falls NP.

Day 3: Game drive and Nile boat ride.

Today, after breakfast, you will be transferred for a game drive. Taking you to the finest places to easily see the animals. You will certainly enjoy Uganda’s true wilderness as you will be taking the best pictures that will be unforgettable on this safari.

This Game drive will introduce you to animals like lions, lioness, plus their cubs, together with other wild animals such as elephants plus giraffes, buffaloes, and antelopes grazing in the savannah. Head back to your lodge for a nice lunch and some relaxation as you warm up for an afternoon boat cruise.

While on the boat, you will have a great time on the Victoria Nile, and the boat takes you to the bottom of the falls. You will observe various quantic animals like elephants, crocodiles, large numbers of hippos, buffaloes, waterbucks, and also birds such as the storks, fish eagle, among others. At the bottom of the falls, you will have a great time watching the magnificent waterfalls. Later, drive back to your booked lodge for dinner and overnight as above.

Day 4: Transfer from Murchison Falls National Park for an unforgettable primate adventure in Kibale National Park

Have breakfast at the lodge and drive to Kibale Forest as you take pleasure in the gorgeous scenery of this countryside which makes the journey more exciting. Experience the breathtaking landscape in the countryside through Hoima and on arrival at Fort Portal tourism city, have your lunch and continue as you will have great views of the Rwenzori ranges. Check-in at your lodge. You could go for a guided nature walk in Bigodi wetland which is home to various birds and primate species or has an evening to relax. Later have dinner and overnight at the lodge

Day 5: Trekking chimpanzees at Kibale national park and Afternoon transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Have morning breakfast thereafter head to the park headquarters, where you will be briefed and later start off with Chimpanzee trekking in the forest.

This park is charming and well-known for different primates and several crater lakes within Uganda. This morning you will see the chimps in their natural environment.

These man’s closest cousins are so exciting and this very close encounter will reward you with a memorable experience on your trip. After lunch, you will drive to the Mweya peninsula in Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will arrive in the late afternoon. Enjoy your dinner and overnight at your Lodge.

Day 6: Game drive and boat cruise on Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park

After breakfast,  set off for a game drive in search of different wildlife species like lions, elephants, antelopes, buffaloes, waterbucks, giraffes, and if lucky enough leopards together with amazing beautiful bird species.

Queen Elizabeth National Park has a diversity of Uganda’s ecosystems such as the Savannah, wetlands, lakes, forests, and over 600 bird species that live in the park. With this, its scenery is spectacular with crater lakes like Nyamunuka and various shrubs and forests.

Later, head back to the lodge for lunch and relax. In the afternoon go for a launch cruise on the Kazinga channel; this is one of the most memorable experiences from the park. Take pleasure in observing different water birds together with their echoing sweet sounds and animals such as hippos, African crocodiles, waterbucks, buffaloes among others. After experiencing the true wilderness, drive back to the lodge for overnight and dinner as above.

Day 7: Forest Walk and Chimpanzee Tracking

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will be guided for a forest walk in Maramagambo forest with the hope to see diverse bird species, python, and bat caves as well as tracking chimpanzees in the Kyambura gorge. Thereafter, drive back to the lodge, have lunch as you prepare for an evening game drive through the park.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest through Ishasha Sector

Have breakfast then transfer to Bwindi Forest via the Ishasha sector as you will have a chance to observe tree-climbing lions in the wild. Bwindi National Park is home to over 346 bird species, 120 mammal species, 400 plant species, 27 frog species among others, and covering an area of 331 sq km. Have lunch en route and continue with your journey, combined with amazing and spectacular views of bananas, tea plantations, and the overall green vegetation of the area. On reaching the park, check in at the lodge of preference. Have dinner and an overnight stay as you wait n the big day for gorilla tracking.

Day 9: Tracking gorillas and Community walk.

Have a cup of tea at the lodge and then head to the park head offices with your guide, have a briefing about the dos and don’t while in the park with gorillas. After head out for your gorilla tracking through the mist rain forest, tracking can take 2 hours or up to 6 hours and this is based on the location of the gentle giants. Only 1 hour is permitted to trekkers while with the gorillas. Make sure you carry packed lunch, enough water, sturdy shoes, non-flash cameras, rain jackets, and walking sticks for those who are not so fit. Later, return to the lodge and relax.

In the evening, go for a community walk where you will visit the Batwa, which is an indigenous group of people that have lived in the forest for many years, enjoy traditional dances from them. Head back to the lodge for Dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Drive to Lake Bunyonyi Island, a traditional canoe ride

After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge, and today, your next destination will be Lake Bunyonyi. Located in Kabale, Lake Bunyonyi is Uganda’s deepest lake and an excellent place for you to swim from free of worries of bilharzia and crocodiles. This lake has 29 islands spread across it, and using a traditional canoe, you will visit one of them.

Day 11: Lake Bunyonyi Island and Transfer to Lake Mburo, afternoon game viewing

A hefty breakfast will be followed by check out of the lodge, and you will be transferred to Lake Mburo National Park. Take between 6 and 7 hours driving in the spectacular South-western countryside, arrive early and you will check in at your respective lodges. At Lake Mburo NP, embark on an afternoon game viewing with the park guide expecting to see lots of zebras, giraffes, impalas, kobs, leopards, buffaloes, and birds.

Day 12: Game drive and Transfer from Lake Mburo to Entebbe

Summarizing your 10-day Uganda adventure tour with an early morning game drive after breakfast. This Game drive will introduce you to several animals like zebras, Impalas, warthogs, and antelopes living in their many natural habitats. Later depart for Kampala with a stopover for lunch in Masaka and another at the Equator to take photos, hence arriving in Kampala in the evening to transfer to Entebbe for a drop off at Entebbe for your flight home.
