UGANDA Lake Bunyonyi Island
This 3 Day Lake Bunyonyi Island Tour gives you opportunities of exploring the Beautiful Islands with Bird watching as well as Cultural Experiences. Lake Bunyonyi is referred to as “the place of Many Birds” as its Name Bunyonyi and is Located in the South-Western part of Uganda between Kisoro and Kabale, close to the border of Rwanda. This Lake is Uganda’s deepest Lake with a varying depth between 44m and 900m, a width of 7km and 25 km long. The Lake is also believed to be the second deepest lake in Africa lying at an altitude of about 1962meters above sea level. It is among the few Bilharzia free Lakes in Uganda and safe for Swimming. The birds found at Lake Bunyonyi Island include the white-tailed blue monad, African harrier, grey crowned cranes, egrets, hawk, herons, levillant cuckoo, Rufous breathed wryneck. The weavers nesting on the island include slender-billed, large golden, yellow-backed. Lake Bunyonyi appears on the Uganda shillings note on 5,000 “Lake Bunyonyi and terraces”. This Lake is approximately a 7 Hours drive from Kampala and about 2 hours drive from Kigali Rwanda’s Capital.
DAY 1: Transfer from Kampala to Lake Bunyonyi Island.
Our Safari Guide from MuAfrika Adventures will pick you up from your hotel very early in the Morning at about 7:00 am after your breakfast, we shall head to the southwestern part of Uganda through the Masaka – Mbarara Highway as we go through the tropical countryside with large swamps, Mpanga forest. We shall have a stopover at the equator for Photographs and the Equator Experiment at the stride of the north and south hemispheres!
We shall later proceed driving through the flat savanna countryside to observe the famous long-horned cows. We shall later stopover in Mbarara town for lunch at the Igongo Cultural Museum. Later proceed through Kabale’s rolling hills as you enjoy the Beautiful Scenery. On arrival at the Lake Bunyonyi Relax at the lakeside Accommodation, Hotel or Camp as you enjoy the views of the Lake Bunyonyi. In the Evening you could opt to go to the Ha’Buharo Island at your request, for entertainment. Enjoy traditional dances as you warm at the campfire. Enjoy Dinner and Overnight at:

DAY 2: Explore Lake Bunyonyi and its Islands (community tour and boat ride or Canoe ride)
After your morning breakfast, we shall visit the Batwa people who first lived in the forest and learn about their day-to-day lives. Later return to your Lodge / Hotel for lunch.
This afternoon enjoy a boat ride or canoeing or cycling tour. A canoe ride gives you an opportunity to view the hills and visit the islands and many more. Option to spend the afternoon on lake in a dugout canoe, bird watching and you also have the option to visit the Orugano rain forest which has different plants and animals. Later return to the lodge for dinner and Overnight at the lodge or Camp.

Day 3: Transfer from Lake Bunyonyi Island and drive back to Kampala
