TOUR OVERVIEW

This 3 Days Mgahinga Volcano Mountain Climb at 3,474M above sea level, gives you the triple experience and Opportunity to view 3 Countries with the Best view while up the Mountain. The area dominated by the Batwa Pygmies and Bafumbira People.

Any of the three volcanoes in Mgahinga National Park can be summited on a Full Day’s Hike to;

Mt. Sabinyo, at 3,669m, takes about eight hours to cover the 14km round trip, following a steep ridge up to the peak.

Mt. Gahinga at 3,474m, takes about six hours to ascend and descend, topped by a swamp-filled crater and giant lobelia. Lucky climbers may spot golden monkeys on their way through the bamboo forest.

Mt. Muhavura is the highest peak at 4,127m, and is about 12km round trip. It takes about eight hours. Once at the top, hikers are rewarded on a clear day with views of Rwanda, DR Congo, the Virunga Volcanoes, Lake Edward, Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and the peaks of the Rwenzoris. This National park is approximately 540Km from Kampala, found in the western part of Uganda.

DETAILED TOUR ITINERARY FOR YOUR 3 DAYS MGAHINGA MOUNTAIN VOLCANO CLIMBING

DAY 1: Transfer from Kampala – Kisoro Town / Mgahinga National Park

After breakfast, you will be picked up from your Hotel by our driver guide and drive to the south western corner of Uganda in Kisoro town on the Foot Hills of Mgahinga Gorilla Park, It is one of the smallest National Parks in Uganda with about 38 square miles and yet home to so much including three stunning Volcanoes that provide some of the best climb hikes in Uganda.
En route to the Park, you will have a stopover at the equator and you will get a chance of witnessing the water experiment at this very spot. Later proceed to Mbarara town for Lunch then proceed to Kisoro and the journey will offer you with sights of the bamboo and Montane forest of the Echuya reserve with splendorous views of the north to the Virunga from the elevated Kanaba Gap. Dinner and overnight stay at Lodge /Hotel.

DAY 2: Hike on Mt. Sabinyo (3669m) 

After Your Energetic breakfast, you will start on an 8 hours hiking adventure to Mt. Sabinyo. This is a triple experience and acts as a view point offering great views of being in 3 Countries at once. You will be in Uganda, Congo and Rwanda at the same time once you reach the top of the Mountain where you will enjoy the view of the magnificent area around the mountain slopes. The mountain has an Afro-Montane Vegetation with cool climate and large bamboo area. On a clear day you could also be able to see lakes Edward in Queen Elizabeth, Parts of the Country Burundi and some peaks of the Rwenzori Mountain of the Moon. Later Slope / Descend back to the Park Head Quarters. Later Proceed back to your lodge / Hotel for dinner and overnight as above.

DAY 3: Transfer from Mgahinga National Park back to Kampala

After your breakfast you will drive back to Kampala. Enroute you may have a stop at the Igongo cultural center for lunch and visiting the museum, make another stop at the equator in Kayabwe for photography.
