This 3 Days Uganda Wildlife Tour to Semuliki National Park, takes you to the western part of Uganda to a national park dominated by the extension of the great Ituri Forest of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Congo Basin. Sprawling across the floor of the Semuliki Valley on the remote, western side of the Rwenzori Mountains National Park, Semuliki National Park is a rewarding destination with incredible wildlife including both savanna wildlife and forest dwellers including chimpanzees. It is a true birder’s haven boasting around 441 Species of bird and accounting for almost 40% of Uganda’s total bird species and 66% of forest bird species. Rare and endemic birds including the Red-billed dwarf Hornbill, White-crested Hornbill and Black casqued Wattled Hornbill are only found in this forest.
Semuliki National Park lies in an area of 220Sq Km and is found in Bwamba County in Bundibugyo district just near Fort portal town. The Park is home to 8 Primate Species and in total 60 Mammal Species, Which include the pygmy Hippos, Leopards, crocodiles, Pygmy Antelope, Flying squirrels, Chimpanzees, Grey-cheeked Mangabey, Baboon, Black and white Colobus, Central African Red Colobus, Vervet, Pottos Monkeys and Bush Babies.

Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Semuliki National Park
Depart from Kampala through Fort portal – Mubende Road to Semuliki National Park in Bundibugyo District. You will enjoy lunch in Fort Portal after proceed to the park as you enjoy the striking sceneries of the Western Albertine rift valley as you drive to Bundibugyo town. Semuliki National Park is next to the western border of Uganda and the Congo Republic next to Lake Albert and covers the eastern part of the Ituri Rain forest joining Uganda and Congo River separated by the Semuliki River. Semuliki National Park is an ornithologist’s haven having about 400 bird species mostly forest birds, and 374 butterfly species. There are 300 tree species recorded nowhere else in East Africa and 53 mammal species with 11 diurnal species. During the night go for a spotlit night game drive, only one of its kind in Uganda and check out the slender and white-tailed mongoose, Serval cats and diminutive nightjars. Day 2: Sempaya hot springs, Waterfalls visit- Boat Trip on the Lake Albert.
We will begin with the most eye-catching item in Semliki National Park, the Sempaya hot springs. These natural springs have a geyser shooting up from an 8m-wide hole at a hot temperature. It’s the largest of its kind in the country. Along the same trail, you can recognize quite a number of bird species like blue–breasted kingfisher and Frasier’s ant-thrush and primates like the grey-checked mangabey and red-tailed monkey. Continue to Mungilo waterfall and see more attractive birds especially if you are a birder. Later in the afternoon go for a boat trip on Lake Albert, an exceptional lake in its own right. Check out the water animals and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight as above.

Day 3:Transfer back to Kampala
Enjoy breakfast at leisure and head off for Kampala with a stopover en route for lunch. On arrival in Kampala, we will transfer to Hotel or proceed to the Airport for Transfer Flight Home. End of your 3 Days Uganda Wildlife Tour to Semuliki National Park.

NB: It is not a Guarantee to see all the Various Animals in the Parks, especially Cats but there is a great chance that you might see them during an Evening or Early Morning Game drive because it is less hot around that time and therefore the animals are freely roaming around as opposed to typical afternoon hours when it gets too hot for the animals and they go undertaking cover from the sun.
