This 2 day gorilla trek in Uganda from Kigali is an intense but feasible short trip to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which can be accessed from Kigali, Rwanda, due to its closer proximity than Uganda’s capital, Kampala. The trip typically involves a 4/5 Hour drive on Day 1 to reach the park, an overnight stay at a lodge / Camp, the gorilla trek on Day 2, and the return journey. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park protects the highest number of mountain gorillas in the world, with almost half of their global population living here. There are about 20 habituated gorilla families in the park that are visited by trekkers every day. This 2 Day Uganda gorilla tour is ideal for travelers with limited time but who want to see mountain gorillas without spending several Hours traveling from Kampala / Entebbe.
Our driver-guide from Muafrika Adventures will meet you at the Airport or hotel in Kigali to start your safari. From Kigali, you will enjoy a 4-hour drive heading to Uganda through the Musanze region of Rwanda. The drive offers a beautiful, spectacular view of the country with “a thousand hills” before exiting Rwanda at the Cyanika / Gatuna Border. We will head to the lodge in Kisoro / Kabale town or in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for an overnight, awaiting the gorilla trekking experience the next day.
On the Gorilla Tracking Day, You will wake up early in the morning, gather at the Bwindi forest national park offices, where you will find fellow trekkers for a briefing before you start your Gorilla Trek. You can always let the ranger know your interests and fitness levels before attaching you to a Gorilla group. Some gorilla groups require a certain amount of physical fitness and might not be favourable to everyone. Therefore, availing this information to your ranger will help him to allocate the best gorilla group to track. After being grouped in groups of (8 people) the ranger will take you through the rules or Do’s and Don’ts of gorilla trekking, and then he will lead you into the forest to track the gorillas.
At 8:00 am, hike into the jungle to meet the gorillas. This hike may be short or long depending on the location of the gorillas. The ranger uses radio communication to stay in touch with the trackers who head into the forest way before you start your way into the forest to search for the Gorillas. The trackers inform your ranger about the whereabouts of the gorillas and direct him to the actual location of the gentle giants. You will spend a maximum of 1 Hour in the presence of the gorillas. Here you will be able to take pictures and observe the way of life of these primates. After the experience, you will trek back out of the forest to meet your driver guide who will transfer you back to Kigali for your flight back home. End of your 2 day gorilla trek Uganda from Kigali.
