This 1 day Bulago Island Tour is a short full day trip from Kampala or Entebbe for a weekend getaway to Bulago Island’s Pineapple bay Resort. Bulago Island, located on Lake Victoria, is the most beautiful resort. If you’re looking for a 5-star weekend retreat and a relaxed beach atmosphere, pineapple bay is the place to go, lounge on a Lamu bed overlooking the glorious Lake Victoria waters.  Bulago Island is comprised of beautiful white soft sand beaches, clear fresh water, and several resorts. It is a privately owned island that is a paradise of its own away from the hustle and bustle of the city. One can go fishing on a speed boat or canoe in search of the Nile Perch, Sailing, swimming, croute, horse riding, Bird watching and other water sports like skiing and tubing. You can also enjoy the nature walks available from the two Hills on the Island to enjoy great views.

Bulago Island Can be accessed By Boat through different locations like The Entebbe Sailing Club, the Botanical Beach Hotel, Entebbe Pier or the Speke Resort Munyonyo. Each of these locations is less than ten minute’s drive from the main Entebbe International airport and is only 45 minute’s ride by boat to the Island. The Island can also be accessed by air on a 10 minutes Charter flight from Entebbe international airport or Kajjansi airstrip to Bulago airfield in a Cessna 210. The Island is one of the several scenic islands on Lake Victoria, located east of Entebbe airport.

Transfer from Kampala or Entebbe to Bulago Island (pineapple bay)

Our driver guide from MuAfrika adventures will pick you up from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala and drive you either to the Entebbe Sailing Club, the Botanical Beach Hotel, Entebbe Pier or the Speke Resort Munyonyo for a speed boat ride to Bulago island crossing the equator enroute, It takes about 45 minutes by speed boat from Entebbe to reach Bulago island, depending on the condition of the lake. On arrival to the Island proceed to the Pineapple Bay resort where you will be welcomed by a shimmering lake and quiet tranquillity, you will Enjoy your lunch t the resort with the brilliant lakeside views. Later enjoy different Optional activities ranging from Water skiing, tubing, fishing, sailing on the lake, nature walks, Horse riding, and birdwatching as the island is home to different bird species.

Bulago Island is over 500 acres and nearly 2 miles long. With about 6 km of sandy beach and about 10km of shoreline altogether, the balance of the shoreline is made up of rocky outcrops and low cliffs. Around the shore, the soil is highly fertile and Covered in trees. The northeastern part of the island contains a small portion of the rainforest. The interior of the island is less fertile and is covered with savannah-like

grassland. A number of local farmers are able to provide a range of fruit (Bulago pineapples are heavenly) and vegetables. Ducks, chickens, and goats are also available and the prices are very reasonable. The Nile Perch and Tilapia fish can be caught by line or bought from the fishermen.

After your day’s activities later in the evening enjoy your sunset boat cruise back to Munyonyo or Entebbe mainland. On arrival, our driver guide will transfer you back to your Hotel in Entebbe or Kampala.

Other things to do near the Island is The Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary which is located just 4 miles south of Bulago Island. Ngamba is known locally as Chimpanzee Island and is home to more than 30 orphaned chimpanzees and is run by the Jane Goodall Trust.
